Cooperativa Amazonas

Cooperativa Amazonas's story

The Amazonas Savings and Credit Cooperative was established on September 22, 2011, by agricultural producers and merchants from rural communities in the provinces of Chachapoyas and Luya, which are both located in the department of Amazonas, Peru. In 2023, the Cooperative implemented the "Mujer Chamba" financial product as part of its institutional strategy of financial inclusion with a gender perspective. It is aimed at women entrepreneurs and microentrepreneurs in the region.

Through this initiative, the Amazonas Cooperative offers financial tools and technical support to women to strengthen their economic capacities, improve their living conditions, and promote their financial autonomy. The result is women contributing to family economic development, the generation of sustainable income, and the socioeconomic progress of their communities. As of June 2025, approximately 288 women have benefited from the loan, with an average of 25 loans per month. In this regard, the institution is requesting the loan to expand the coverage of its "Mujer Chamba" financial product to 90 more women, and, thus, continue promoting the financial inclusion of women in vulnerable situations in Peru.
