Afuwah's story

Afuwah is 30 years old and lives in the town of Ggaba in the Central region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past 3 years, Afuwah has been working hard to manage her Pub business, which sells variety of liquor beverages. To help expand her business, Afuwah has requested a loan of 1000000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more liquor, as well as non-alcoholic options like soft drinks and water, and often snack foods for sale. It will help Afuwah to generate greater profits and invest more in her buisness and buy food for her family. Afuwah hopes that in the future she will be able to build more rentals for business.She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Afuwah who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
